X Gave Me A Time-Out For “Hate Speech”

Yesterday, a news story about CNN’s primetime ratings plummeting popped up on my feed, so I naturally replied to it with the following comment:

I hope CNN goes bankrupt and dies.

Instantly, X suspended my account for 12 hours:

We have determined that you have violated the X Rules, so we’ve temporarily limited some of your account features. While in this state, you can still browse X, but you’re limited to only sending Direct Messages to your followers – no posts, reposts, follows, or likes.

I was fuming.

CNN is a company. Since when it is hate speech to wish death on a company? I didn’t get the memo.

Especially CNN.

Can you think of a more deserving company that should go bankrupt and die?

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines hate speech like this:

hate speech

: speech expressing hatred of a particular group of people

People, not companies.

So it’s not hate speech you fucking retards!

And ironically, as I was searching for an inexistent appeal process on X, I was bombarded with “nigger” and “faggot” and all kinds of horrible slurs, some of them so inventive that I had to note them down for future deployment.

But no – I’m the one guilty of “hate speech” because I said that I hope CNN goes bankrupt and dies.
